Lower Falls at Golden Ears

Today we headed over to Golden Ears Park to hike up to the Lower Falls. I won't tell you about how Jason got lost getting there from Ikea and how he finally asked for directions. It was a very fun family afternoon. It's about a 5 km little hike with not much elevation which was just the right amount for the kids. Keira got to ride in the backpack which she still loved. We had forgotten how, for kids, hiking is not about the destination but about the journey. They needed to stop at every stump and every view of the river while Jason and I were anxious to just get to the falls. They definitely help us see things we might not otherwise look at. Once we got to the Falls, we looked at them for about 1 minute before the kids were anxious to backtrack to where they had seen the river and all these rocks they could climb on. We spent an hour jumping from rock to rock mixed in with some yummy cinnamon buns from our stop at Ikea. Tonight we asked the boys what their favorite part of the day was and they said jumping from rock to rock but not the hike. Apparently, the hike was much too exhausting for them and they would have rather just slept.
