The Desperate Search

I'm sure there are many fathers and mothers out there who have done the desperate search for the soother in the middle of the night. But I doubt that there are any others who have done the desperate search for ELMO's soother at in the middle of the night. A week ago Michael's "wee wee" mysteriously got broken which made it unpleasant for him to suck. He decided instead of throwing it in the garbage that he would give it to his Elmo doll that he sleeps with. Unfortenately, it would not stay in Elmo's mouth which was very upsetting to him so, being the very intelligent parents that we are we taped the soother in his mouth. Well, the first night without the soother, Michael screamed for 2 hours. Since then, Michael has slept fine as long as he has Elmo with his soother, his stuffed frog and his Owie doggie (a stuffed dog with bandaids covering him given to him by Nana). After a couple of nights we got rid of the tape holding the soother in, as Michael kept taking it off and then asking for more. We thought this was kind of cute until last night I experienced the middle of the night desperate search for the soother for Elmo. There is certainly very few things as ridiculous as being awakened to search for a stuffed toy's soother or maybe I am just a very dedicated mother. I opted for the ridiculous and "wee wee" mysteriously got lost this morning. Wahoo! Goodbye soother! Way to go Michael!
