Joy in the Journey

I took the kids to the park after dinner tonight. They wanted to each bring a truck, so I said "Sure, but you have to carry it yourself." So they did. It took us at least 25 minutes to walk to the park (normal walking time 10 minutes). Michael was not particularly speedy pushing his truck on the sidewalk. And both boys were far too distracted trying to scare birds, pick up acorns, re-excavate the front-yard gardens of our neighbours, etc. When we got to the park, we only had 10 minutes to play before returning home. At least the boys had fun getting there. There's probably a lesson in here somewhere...
