Baker Lake

We got back yesterday from another great camping trip. This time we went with the Boese's down to Baker Lake in Washington. Our trip started out with a wonderful miracle. We headed down there Thursday evening without any reservations. We were hoping and praying that among the 4 or 5 campsites there we might find a site for us all. When the Boese's arrived around 8, there was nothing available at the site we were hoping to stay at. But, while they were talking to the hosts, somebody overheard and offered to move so that we could have his site for the weekend since he was leaving the next day. We got a perfect site to fit all of us--2 minutes from the bathroom and water on our site. This was such a great answer to prayer considering all our little children were done in by the time we arrived. Here's a picture of our site and rare moment of quiet for me!
The first day was pretty rainy so we just finished setting up camp and went for a short walk through this beautiful old forest.
On Saturday, it was a beautiful sunny day. Since we have had so few of those this summer we hung out at the beach most of the day. I spent most of my time trying to keep Keira from stuffing handfuls of sand into her mouth. I was down there for about an hour by myself with the kids and enjoyed watching them all just play in the sand--without my assistance! I love it when they just enjoy themselves all on their own. This is a new experience for me. Unfortuneately, we forgot our camera but here are some pics of the boys enjoying the beach one morning.

On Sunday, we ventured out on a hike up to a little lake in the mountains called Blue Lake. It was about 1 mile and it was gorgeous. They even got to find a geocache. All our kids did awesome. Keira even fell asleep in the backpack which amazed me. I think this hike was a highlight for me. I had forgotten how much I love hiking and exploring and realised how much we can still do with our kids. We all realised we probably would never have gone to this place if it hadn't been for our kids as we would have ventured out on something more extreme. This was agreat day!

Our trip would not have been complete without our friends the mosquitoes (unfortuneately, the boys all got eaten alive), Keira in the bath, Daddy's bedtime stories and the yummy snacks that the Boese's always bring along (hooray for banana boats and bush pies). Thanks for all the fun memories!

Glad it all worked out for you, I wouldn't have thought of a Rubbermaid container as a bathtub, good idea!
